OVER VEIW
This short but amazing tour will take you to one of the world’s remarkable wildlife encounter of tracking the rare mountain gorillas in the remote Bwindi Impenetrable forests of south western Uganda.
The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in the southwestern corner of Uganda, is a part of the Albertine Rift and one of the most biodiverse forests in Africa. Its thick, dense jungle is full of butterflies, birds, small mammals, primates, plus 160 species of trees and over 100 species of ferns. Even better, the Bwindi plays host to one of the most endangered species on our planet – the Mountain Gorilla. Bwindi is one of the only places on the planet where it is possible to get up close and personal with these incredible primates. The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the oldest, and most biologically diverse, national park in Uganda. It is home to over 3000 gorillas, half the world’s population. While the forest is home to around 350 species of birds, 219 species of butterflies, and more than 200 species of trees and herbs, it is the Mountain Gorillas that are what the park is most famous for. A typical gorilla experience in Bwindi will include a briefing before you set off into the forest in search of the great apes. After a one hour trek, you will be rewarded with incredible sightings of the gorillas as they eat, play and relax in their natural habitat. Seeing these critically endangered primates up close is an experience that will stay with you forever. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is not only home to the Mountain Gorillas, but many other species as well. From elephants to chimpanzees, the jungle is teeming with a wide array of wildlife. The national park is also a great destination for birdwatchers as over 350 species of birds can be found here, including over 50 species of hornbills. Whether you come to Bwindi to take in the breathtaking sights or to experience a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a mountain gorilla, you will be sure to be impressed and leave with memories that will last a lifetime.
